About me
Hello, fellow dads and dads-to-be! My name is Tom (or Teej), and welcome to “Dad Bod Bye,” a community of like-minded people who are committed to staying fit, healthy, and active for our families.
Born and bred in the North West of England, I’ve been an office worker for over a decade. While I loved the camaraderie and challenges of my job, I felt the toll it took on my physical health. But all of that changed in early 2023, when my wife, Jodes, and I found out that we were expecting our first child. The joy was overwhelming, but so was the realisation that I wanted to be in better shape to play with my child without getting out of breath. And that’s where my fitness journey began.
In late 2019, I also got my Personal Training qualifications, which have come in handy during this transformation phase. I started incorporating workouts into my daily routine, learned about nutrition, and soon enough, the positive changes were evident. It was not just about looking good, but feeling good from within.
“Dad Bod Bye” was born out of my desire to share this journey with other dads and dads-to-be. If you are someone who, like me, wants to keep up with the younger lot without huffing and puffing, this is the place for you. We’re here to support each other, share tips on fitness, mental health, nutrition, and stay motivated throughout this journey.
When I’m not blogging or sweating it out, I’m usually behind the lens, capturing the beauty of life through my camera. I’m an avid YouTube watcher, with my favorites being Craig Richey (TeamRichey), Tom Heaton, Peter McKinnon, and Will’s Whereabouts. And while I dream of devouring the BBQ Cheeseburger from Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom, Orlando, my go-to healthy meal is a homemade Doner Kebab.
A little fun fact: I’ve always wanted to try Crossfit and even signed up for a Hyrox event in 2022. Unfortunately, injuries kept me from participating, but that’s a goal I’m still striving towards.
So join me, as we say goodbye to the dad bod and hello to a healthier, happier version of ourselves. Expect weekly check-ins from me, practical tips, and hopefully, some virtual catch-ups in the future. This is not just about a personal transformation; it’s about building a community.
